*mini* Motherhood Mash-Up #5
on having zero patience, anxiety and what I am doing to manage it all...
Hello mama-
Well, my intention to send you an email from my other server, did not work, as technology loves to glitch and I had some issues with getting it sent out this morning. I was not going to not send anything, so here I am…
I always try to be very transparent in everything I share here, and I must say that sending an email on Friday and having everything ready for today, only to encounter a technological issue, gave me all of the anxiety! The thoughts of how scattered and inconsistent I would appear ran through my mind on a never-ending loop for longer than I care to admit. I realize that most of you could care less and it is my own anxious, OCD-ish mind that is getting the best of me. But I thought I would share this, as I know a lot of us here are learning to let go of perfectionism. I kind of feel like, it was a HUGE lesson Spirit was guiding me on….to let go, and things would be fine…it is just an email after all.
As mentioned in my previous post, I still intend to stay off of Substack for ‘Notes’ and will be commenting less as I am trying to stay focused on my other projects, as well as lean into being present with my family.
For next week's Mash-Up, well, it might be through Substack or I might give it another go through my other email server. It will depend on my patience (ironically, a part of the theme for this week!). I truly have no idea right now, except that one will be hitting your inbox again next Monday, with a very seasonal round-up! =)
Alright well now that you all had to endure my anxious ramble. I am excited to deliver you the *mini* Monday Motherhood Mash-Up. This *was* supposed to be a mini version of the Mash-Up, but my jibber-jabber above kind of ruined that vibe.
Well said, Alanis.
In 1995 one of my all-time favorite albums was released, Jagged Little Pill. I got the CD for my 10th Birthday so I tend to always gravitate to listening to this album (on repeat) this time of year. These words did not register in any way when I was 10, but now, as a mother who feels like her patience is dwindling – and in constant search of ways to calm down my overstimulated anxious mind…they stand out particularly loud.
So, on that note, this week’s Mash-Up is all in theme to Alanis's words, tips, and recommendations that I have found helpful to keep *calmer*, and maybe possibly gain some patience in the process.
A quick 10 - 15 workout can make a huge difference in redirecting built-up and angry energy—current favorite Tracy Anderson's Beginner Cardio. You can get the 16-minute video for free on YouTube.
Caution:: there is some jumping-like movement in this video, always listen to your body on what you can do. For example, if I am coming off of a migraine week, I do not do the jumps and just stay with a previous movement.
I think by now, most of us know how our food can affect our mood. Consuming large amounts of Halloween candy this past week, in no doubt is playing into this extra loss of patience and anxiety. So, as a family, we are going back to a daily green smoothie, the little ones can use this just as much as mama at this point. Sharing my 3 favorite kid-approved green smoothies with you all! Hopefully, one of the three will be well-received by your tiniest ones.
Being hands-on with art is a big passion in our home. It is a way we can all relax and do a *calm* activity together if no one is overtired or hungry that is (goes for me too!). I got this Gingerbread House from Target and HIGHLY recommend it. They also have a Bakery one (which, I kind of am obsessed with). I know not everyone is a Christmas freak like I am, but if you want to get this for December, you need to grab it now, because they sold out so fast last year. Also recommend Mr. Sketch Markers for this, since it was a gingerbread house with candy, the scented markers really made it extra fun for the kids…and brought back a lovely hit of nostalgia for me.
Favorite Youtube Channel
I always go to Sage's videos when I am seeking some gentleness and simplicity in my homemaking. I love all things vintage, so I always find vintage lifestyle tips to be particularly fun (and calming) to dive into. You can get lost in her channel for a while if you also love the vintage life, she has everything from fashion to recipes to DIY. I just love her style and humor throughout!
Well, that concludes our Monday Motherhood Mash-Up. Thank you so much for joining me in my little corner of the internet… and bearing with all of *crazy* email changes and anxiety!
I would love to hear from you…what are some of your favorite ways to calm your mind and/ or find a way to lean into patience when you are in the midst of navigating your daily chaos?
I'm with Lyndsay there, happy to see your name pop up regardless if "on time" or how it is delivered xxx
Might have to try that Tracy Anderson Cardio! I've been wanting to start working out again. But finding time with a toddler running around is HARD.
