Spring has Sprung
A reflection for mothers dealing with Chronic Illness + How Seasonal Living Can Help BONUS: A sneak peek into The Seasonal Homemaker Spring Guide
Well, it has been a few months!
I truly did not have the intention of starting this newsletter and being inconsistent. Life got hectic, and I was working on some other projects that just took up a lot more time than anticipated.
I am also currently working out of the house in a school, and the daily commute, plus motherhood tasks, have had to be the priority until the end of my contract, which is coming up in May. I truly cannot wait, because that means I will be able to dedicate more time here, sharing content that I hope will be of benefit to all of you!
So what have I been working on that has been taking up all of my “spare time”?
I am very excited to share The Seasonal Homemaker Collection Spring Guide! As part of the newsletter, I am going to give you a sneak peek at what is included. But before I do that, I want to pause and share with you a reflection for mothers with chronic illness.
A Reflection For Mothers Dealing with Chronic Illness
There are so many mothers who struggle with chronic illness. I myself have migraines; at times they are more chronic, meaning they can be persistent for weeks at a time. Other times, I have relief. I have talked with other mothers who deal with chronic issues related to the gut, MS, or other autoimmune disorders. The mental burden of dealing with these illnesses can sometimes build up and take a toll on us.
Oftentimes, we go about our lives without people knowing what we are pushing through until it gets to the point where we can no longer hide it. Very recently, I had someone make a comment about how “easily” I can be tipped over the edge, and as I held back tears, I said, “Yes. These migraines can be a burden.” Though I could have provided a more defensive comment and tried to explain myself and everything I had been juggling, which led to a chronic spell, I realized just how pointless it would have been. At that moment, I had that intuitive guidance sweep in; God provided me with a reminder of a scripture passage about how in your weakness you are made stronger. And remembering that made me feel lighter, knowing that even though I struggle, it is not wasted, because I have the empathy and compassion to help mothers in the same situation.
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weakness so that the power of Christ may rest on me. | 2 Cor 12:9
There are times when people are only going to see our weaknesses. They do not know our stories or journey, but that is okay. God knows us. Our guardian angels are with us. Our higher-soul selves have all sat with us in our darkest moments. They know our hearts, our pain, and how many times we have lifted ourselves up again and kept going despite the struggles, so we could be there for our children, our spouses, and ourselves.
Mama, I am not sure what you may be going through, but I can tell you that you are not alone, even if you may feel that way at this moment. I know my struggles have made me have anxiety and feel isolated, and I pray that you will not feel that same isolation. If anything, I hope this speaks to you, so you can know there is someone out there that also feels as you do, that is there for you, and here for support.
That is why I created Well-Rooted Motherhood in the first place. To help mothers who feel overwhelmed and exhausted but desire more than anything to be that calm, ROOTED and joy-filled mama.
I want to make it easier for you to care for yourself, so you can take care of your loved ones.
I would also love to hear from you and any struggles you have with chronic illness. What kind of support would you benefit from the most?
Seasonal Living for a Mothers Body, Mind & Soul
When we can take the time to nourish our body, mind, and soul, we get to show up for our families in a more grounded way. The chaos that is sure to happen during the day will not shake us as much, because we have built a strong foundation.
One of the easiest ways to build this foundation is to learn to embrace seasonal living. Seasonal living allows us to slow down and focus on what truly matters in our lives. We can align our daily routines, habits, and lifestyle with the natural rhythm of the seasons. Our bodies and minds are intimately connected to the natural world around us, and by living in harmony with the seasons, we can improve our wellness. Research shows that a more seasonal lifestyle can reduce stress and anxiety and improve our immune system. These are all things a mother can most definitely benefit from!
About The Seasonal Homemaker Collection: Spring Guide
The guide begins with an introduction to spring: from festivals and celebrations to plants and animals that you can use in lesson plans for your kids, flowers and scents you can fill your home with, and food that you can use in your meal planning.
The next part of the guide is, to me, the most important; it was designed for the homemaker, the heart of the home, the mother. We all know that old phrase about putting our oxygen mask on first. Having the mother care for herself is the foundation for this section. We start with a gentle seasonal cleanse to boost energy levels and reduce stress.
The spring cleanse is focused on balancing the liver and includes educational materials about detoxification, a meal plan (that you can easily adapt for the whole family), and recipes.
The second part of the Motherhood section helps you with your mental health, reducing stress and overwhelm by planning out the season of spring with intentions and goals. We do a quick assessment to see which areas are lacking and need more of our attention. We create visions and plans and start to take action on what matters most.
You will find grounding prayers and affirmations to help you through your more challenging days. These can be used as a springboard as you set out plans; they can be used throughout the season. Guidance is given for daily and monthly journaling.
Up next is the Intentional Family Section.
You will explore spring-themed intentional family activities. This includes nature walks, spring animal unit studies, kid-friendly recipes, and more. This is a resource that can be used for homeschooling, supplemental education, or just for fun!
The guide was designed as inspiration that you can use for many years, not just this season.

I wrote a lot in this Newsletter, so if you made it this far, thank you! I am hoping to put another one out soon, focused on some wellness plans that will help us all get healthier for the spring and summer after a very long and (I might just be speaking for myself here) exhausting winter season!
